This is a special celebration in Mexico and other Latin American countries that honors loved ones who have passed away. While it may sound spooky, Día de los Muertos is actually a joyful and colorful holiday that celebrates life and memory! Let’s explore what this holiday is all about and some fun ways your family can celebrate together!
What is Día de los Muertos?
Día de los Muertos takes place on November 1st and 2nd. On these days, families believe that the spirits of their loved ones return to visit them. It's a time to remember them, share stories, and enjoy some of their favorite foods. Families set up beautiful altars, decorate with marigold flowers, light candles, and display photos of loved ones who have passed.
In Mexico, Día de los Muertos often involves parades, colorful costumes, music, and delicious food. It's a time of joy, not sadness!

- Calaveras (Skulls): These are often painted with bright colors and fun designs. Sugar skulls, or "calaveras de azúcar," are made from sugar or chocolate and are decorated with colorful icing!

2. Make Your Own Sugar Skulls
