Meet Our Mom of the Month: Xochitl

What better way to celebrate Mother’s Day month than by introducing… me! Hi, I’m Xochitl—your local Macaroni KID publisher behind Modesto, Turlock–Ceres, and Mountain House–Tracy–Manteca. 💛

So… who am I?

Hi! I’m Xochitl, and in June 2024, I took a leap and launched Macaroni KID Modesto. When I say I hit the ground running—I mean it. I poured everything I had into building what once felt like a “quiet” site into a go-to resource for local families looking for connection, fun, and community.

But Macaroni KID has actually been part of my life longer than that.

I first discovered it when I was living in the Bay Area. My nephews were little at the time, and it became my go-to for finding things to do with them. It was such a lifesaver—and never in a million years did I think:

I’d have my own child someday
I’d be living in the Central Valley
I’d be running a Macaroni KID site myself

And yet… here we are. Never say never, right? 😄

A little backstory

Before this chapter of my life, I worked as a sound engineer. I traveled, lived in different places, and worked in theatre—late nights, weekends, all of it. It was exciting, creative, and fulfilling.

But then life shifted.

I became a mom. The schedule that once worked no longer fit the life I wanted for my family. Then the pandemic hit, theatres shut down, and that chapter came to a close.

I stepped into being a stay-at-home mom—and truly loved it. But when my son started TK, I found myself wondering: What’s next for me?

And that’s when Macaroni KID showed up in my inbox.

They were looking for a publisher… and my slightly crazy, all-in self said, “Why not?” I went for it—and the rest is history.

Why this matters so much to me

I’m not just the publisher—I’m one of you.

I’m a mom figuring it out as I go. Some days are beautifully organized, others are a little chaotic. I’m balancing work, family, and everything in between. I hustle hard—but I do it with purpose.

I want my son to grow up in a community that feels vibrant, supportive, and full of opportunity.

This may not be where my husband and I grew up, but it’s where we are building our life. And while the Central Valley sometimes gets a bad rap, I see something different every single day—families showing up, small businesses pouring their hearts into what they do, communities coming together in the most beautiful ways.

Honestly? You all are what make this place so special.

I’m just here to help shine a light on it. ✨
